But I watched them in scrambled order so I think I have plenty more to discover as I make my way through his filmography, especially in context with other things happening in cinema at the time.

I appreciate Godard's sharp intelligence, enjoy his humor and of course his taste in lead female actors is impeccable in this early phase of his career at least. He clearly understands the value of having aesthetically pleasing visuals (including his cast) as a calling card to advance his more difficult-to-absorb ideas. I expect that he will be a director whose films I will integrate into my systematic review of cinema history even after I get to the point where Criterion stopped releasing them (i.e. Tout va bien, as things now stand.)David Blakesleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12167200509158903679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5573438243257723411.post-30752477903865627272012-03-12T23:47:57.635-04:002012-03-12T23:47:57.635-04:00No,I'm afraid I don't.I've only seen a...No,I'm afraid I don't.I've only seen a couple of his films and Pierrot le fou is my favorite, Alphaville and Contempt is also pretty good.I had a tough time watching Band of Outsiders since there are too many literary, historical and cinematic references.

I admire the playfulness and free-style in his films, and his exploration of what film making can be,and I'm always ready to see another one of his.

What about you?Davidhttp://www.tasteofcinema.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5573438243257723411.post-13744829560521951842012-03-12T13:00:27.636-04:002012-03-12T13:00:27.636-04:00Pairing Design for Living and A Woman is a Woman f...Pairing Design for Living and A Woman is a Woman for close-proximity viewing is a great idea, I recommend it! Do you have a strong opinion on Godard, David? This is about as light and playful as he gets, so for some people A Woman is a Woman is their favorite JLG movie.David Blakesleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12167200509158903679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5573438243257723411.post-42960409769353134832012-03-12T00:59:57.960-04:002012-03-12T00:59:57.960-04:00I've never seen it and always confused title w...I've never seen it and always confused title with Masculin féminin and a man and a woman.Since I just watched Lubitsch's Design for Living last week,I'm ready to explore more interesting trio stories, just like this one.Davidhttp://www.tasteofcinema.com/noreply@blogger.com
